#042 – I Don’t Have the Time

Transcript:

The stories we humans tell ourselves about time are quite… interesting... :) In the previous episode, we landed on a fact that we cannot really escape anymore: our understanding of Time is distorted, imprecise, and exhausting… would you agree? You're listening to Cosmic Dynamics, 5minutes of exploration on art, change, and the music of the universe 5 minutes? Why 5 minutes? so you take a chance to squeeze this podcast into your busy schedule? Or are those episodes only 5 minute-long so it doesn't take ME too much time to produce…? Or both maybe? Or neither of those 2 answers? Maybe it's not even a matter of time… actually I guess I made this tagline "5-minute of exploration about art, change and the music of the Universe - as a tactic. A tactic so you take a chance to squeeze this podcast into your busy schedule. But now that we're here.. Listen… time stops. Nothing else matters. Not right now. Right now, the only thing that matters is‚ this sound, these thoughts that we are sharing with each other and lead us to reconsider the fundamental narratives that govern our lives. And time is one of them :) Time as we know it, is an illusion or is it real? As I said last time, it is subject to paradigm, and we can go far here. But instead of getting lost in those crazy debates, let me just ask this question: How does the illusion of time apply to us day-to-day, with this constant pressure on the various activities of our lives, paying the bills for some, the implications of family life for others, the implications of long work days, of trying to squeeze in some "me time" and probably [quotation marks] having to say no to things because we don't have the time" Our relation with time is corrupted, it's infected, our relation to the present moment is infected. This relationship to the present moment has been broadly dying across western culture for decades now, because of the narratives, the structures, the systems that make it so "time is money", the narratives that make it so we don't have the time, so we listen to podcasts faster:) And we are all familiar with how different time can feel from one situation to the other:  If you imagine being live on radio, a minute lasts forever. in that minute, you can do and think so many things and your mind can dive deep. If you are bored… different story. Or if you are in danger… time feels different... If I stop talking right now‚… And if i stop the music‚… you might get impatient… how does it feel? Okay you get the point. It's a vast topic indeed. Here we are referring to just the material - physical world where time passes and we get old, but if we are referring to the more subtle planes, it's a whole new conversation. Consider this: There are things that keep happening in our lives because we don't solve them in the  more subtle planes (In our psyche for instance) Decisions we make, consciously or unconsciously that constantly lead to the same unfortunate result or situation. We impulsively try to escape such unfortunate outcomes but the cosmic forces keep presenting that situation over and over again, in different shapes or forms. You recognise this cosmic mystery? yes? Is time passing? Well... Yes, physically we are getting old, but that problem we are running after is always the same and until we solve it, until we truly dilute that frustration, time actually stops. If I keep failing at the same thing 20 years later, and it's preventing me from achieving what I want‚Ķ Did time actually pass? We can all recognise that circular dimension to our lives. That thing that keeps happening to us because of the unresolved. A money situation, a family situation, a health situation, those things that make you feel you are not really moving forward… Time takes a whole new significance here.  That's why it's more accurate to focus on decisions. The decisions we make.We all have this power, this gift, this ability to make decisions. Within the time we have, and about the time we don't have :) Although the starting point is far from being even across the world's populations, and although the system we live in and the reigning narratives I mentioned before can feel like a nightmare. The time we have, and the time we don't have, is ALWAYS because of a decision that we have made. In that sense, deciding is our only real power. "Yes Camille but how about the decisions that are grounded in the unconscious"? Excellent point, Well, here starts your journey. Doesn't it?  A personal quest worth pursuing. Really. That quest - to deeply understand your own decisions -  is what will create ...all the time you need to achieve what you want. Already, we changed the self-told story from "I don't have the time" to ... "I made other decisions"...  or maybe to... "something in me led me to that unfortun,,k situation... where I have no time on my hands right now". This subtle shift in the self-told story is fundamental, because it leads you to realise how powerful you actually are… YES "you CAN create time". And that's truly an art I believe :) Thank you for tuning in. (Keep me posted via email hello@cosmic.show)

Our relationship to the present moment has been broadly dying across western culture for decades now, because of the narratives, the structures, the systems that make it so “time is money”, the narratives that make it so we don’t have the time, and so we listen to podcasts in 2X.

Cosmic Dynamics is also available on Spotify & on podcast apps.

Thank you for tuning in,

Camille.
