#037 – Cosmic Trip

#037 - Cosmic TripSeptember 9, 2020

Transcript:

There is a story I have been wanting to tell for a few days, but I was too busy pinching myself because I couldn’t believe what was actually happening. Ok, it’s time…Last week, when getting to my desk, there was a package on the table. I have no idea how it got here. It had “Cosmic” written on it. So I opened it.There was a postcard in there, handwritten with a sort of weird  glowing ink that I had to put in the sunlight for maximum clarity. I couldn’t believe what was written on it, and what else was in this package... You’re listening to Cosmic Dynamics, 5-min of exploration on art, change, & the music of the universe. So I held the letter in the sun, and I read the following text: “A growing number of cosmic civilisations hold the keys to life in harmony for all. They proved they could transcend the individual and collective limitations that they initially thought were bound to the characteristics of their species… On these planets, very much like with the humans of Planet Earth, the pact that links subjects together in action is made through symbols, language and narratives.” Very much like on Planet Earth; symbols, language and narratives are what enables collaboration, planning, organisation, and transcending any limitation that may be felt at different points of evolution... “ Then it said: “In this package, you will find a map of the cosmos, the coordinates of all civilised planets out there, and a transportation device. May humans get inspired by their cosmic travels, and upgrade the stories they tell themselves. May humans evolve the narratives and symbols that link their action together.” And so I ran back to the package and ...yes, here it was. The map of the Cosmos, a large listing of weird planet names with coordinates and...the transportation device.  Which looks very much like a TV remote control, with its user manual. Can you believe this? No? Well here is my proposal. With this story in mind, we are launching a show on Instagram TV, called Cosmic Trip. In each episode, I will host one human guest who will bring: One theme of interest (the plastic crisis, how we deal with time, tourism, visual art, agriculture - whatever this guest specialises in!) We’ll talk a few minutes about the narratives and symbols that are blocking the way, and/or the narratives and symbols that could accelerate positive change in that area, AND, we’ll take a Cosmic trip to one of these planets where things are running smoothly, very smoothly…. We will observe attentively, and get inspired: what are the stories they tell up there? What symbols do they use? How did they reach harmony? Maybe we’ll even get a chance to interview their inhabitants... That’s the art piece of the day I have for you: this new co-creation Instagram show we are launching. It is going to allow us: To spend quality time with inspiring human beings: our guests! It will feed our research - by interviewing our guests on challenging narratives to overcome, all of us will gain context on priority issues, which we can then address in upcoming Cosmic workshops and projects. Three, It’s going to have us think creatively through this fictional cosmic trip, we will come up with ideas that might not pop up in a boring serious Planet Earth conversation. Humans probably look quite lost from up there,  so getting some cosmic inspiration from other planets might be beneficial. Let’s say we’ll try to think a bit more like a 4 year-old - with the context and vision of a grown-up, or (semi-grown-up maybe). We spend quite a bit of time advocating for bringing back the right brain into society, so here is one occasion to eat our own medicine. And four, this show will symbolically reinforce the idea that we can problem-solve on complex and very serious issues by taking perspective for a few minutes, thinking outside the box and having a good time. If you’re going to rebuild a house with your friends because it is falling apart, you might as well put on some music, smile and get creative. That new house will be much better, and the neighbours might even get inspired. Are you coming? Our instagram is cosmic.show, and Cosmic trip is starting soon, very soon...
