#035 – Off

Transcript:

Sometimes it feels we will never make it… whatever that means… “we will never make it” “it’s too late” “There are too many things to fix, in too little time… Let’s think about this for a second... My name is Camille, you’re listening to Cosmic Dynamics, 5 min of exploration on Change, Art & the music of the universe This song is called “we shall overcome” by the way “Too much we need to change, in too little time…” 3 questions we might want to ask ourselves from this statement, let’s break it down: Question 1: Is this a collective question, or an individual one? What do WE need to change? or what do I need to change? Question 2: Is our understanding of time correct in this context?  In other words, do I live in a world where my future is a consequence of my present, or where my present is a consequence of my future? Let’s masticate this one a little bit… Do I live in a world where my future is a consequence of my present, or where my present is a consequence of my future?  That affects the pace of change doesn’t it? Question 3: Should we really think of change as something linear? Why do we project that we have too little time? (I know it’s preferable to speed-up ambitious decision-making, investment and policy but look: the 1.8 Trillion dollars the oil industry will lose this year from the pandemic is not something anyone could have planned really. Still, it happened. Radical change usually happens radically in ways we don’t expect… “Too much we need to change, in too little time…” How arrogant humans have become as a species Maybe the universe has a much better plan…? In the meantime, it seems that each one of us can only move one step at the time. And maybe not many words are necessary. Today I am featuring one of my favorite illustrated books ever. It’s called OFF, it’s illustrated by Xavier Salomo and I very strongly recommend it - I’ll put the links in the notes. No words. Just a deer and a little girl advancing in a devastated landscape, towards a smoking chimney appearing on the horizon. Walking one step at the time, like on a quest. Be aware: you might feel something.
